A Dorchester Performance: Inari Jade Higgins Barrett
Here’s something pretty special: 11-year-old Inari Jade Higgins Barrett, singing a song she wrote in the third grade, with her father, Toussaint Liberator, by her side. The two were performing at the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute in Dorchester as part of the Peace Institute’s Peace B-QUE.
Inari attends Chestnut Accelerated Middle School in Springfield. Toussaint plays every Monday night at The Beehive in the South End. You can read more about Inari, and how she found her voice in music, in this article that Everyday Boston founder, Cara Solomon, wrote for WBUR.
Thanks to the Peace Institute for an afternoon of inspiration- and for the work they do, all day, every day, to strengthen the city and help it heal.
